Hydrostatic Pressure Relief System

What is a French Drain or Hydrostatic Pressure Relief System?

A French Drain or a hydrostatic Pressure Relief System is drainage system that is installed in your basement or crawl space. The system is installed around the perimeter of the basement or crawl space next to the foundation’s footing and beneath the basement floor. This system addresses seepage by collecting water that comes up from beneath the basement floor and through foundation walls. The system is connected to a Sump Pump which ejects the water from your home resulting in a dry basement or crawl space!

Do I Need a French Drain?

The first step in determining if you need a French drain is to call us for a free evaluation. Many waterproofing companies on Long Island only install French drains or Hydrostatic Pressure Relief Systems and do not provide exterior foundation waterproofing solutions which results in deceptive sales tactics and/or the installation of a system that does not correctly address your basement’s water seepage. If you have a foundation crack causing water seepage, the logical approach would be to repair the crack and stop the water from entering your basement or crawl space. French Drains or Hydrostatic Pressure Relief Systems are used to combat ground water meaning perched or water table issues that are causing water to rise through your basement’s floor or at the cove joint. French Drains can be used as a control measure for water entering your foundation through a crack when outside excavation is not feasible.
