Hydrostatic Pressure Relief System

French Drains in Nassau County

Make our waterproofing company your preferred choice when looking for professionals to handle installation jobs involving French drains in New York. A French drain or hydrostatic pressure relief system is a drainage system installed around the perimeter of your basement or crawl space. It is placed next to the foundation’s footing and beneath the basement floor.

This system offers the perfect solution to seepage because it collects water coming from beneath the basement floor and through the foundation walls. In addition, the system is connected to a sump pump that ejects the water from your home, resulting in a dry basement or crawl space.

Our French Drain or Pressure Relief System Installation Process:

  1. Install dust mitigation.
  2. Remove the concrete floor around the perimeter (1 foot wide from the foundation wall).
  3. Dig the trench (approximately 1 foot in depth).
  4. Install a 3/4-inch washed gravel pitched to the sump basin.
  5. Install a 4-inch perforated pipe.
  6. Install an additional 3/4-inch washed gravel.
  7. Cement the top of the channel, leaving its floor level with the existing floor.
  8. Install a sump pump and plumb to the home’s exterior.

The work provided by our waterproofing company is guaranteed for 10 years.

How to Determine If You Need a French Drain

Many waterproofing companies serving Long Island only install French drains or hydrostatic pressure relief systems but do not provide exterior foundation waterproofing solutions. Situations like these lead to deceptive sales tactics and/or system installations that fail to address your basement’s water seepage.

Foundation cracks that cause water seepage must be repaired promptly to prevent water from entering your basement or crawl space. French drains combat groundwater, meaning perched or water table issues causing water to rise through your basement’s floor or at the cove joint. In addition, French drains can be used as control measures for water entering your foundation through cracks when outside excavation is not feasible.
